This motto of Barbarossa founder Martin Miehle from 1874 is brought to life every day by his great-great-grandson Florian Miehle with his wife Christiane and by the entire Barbarossa team.
In our house with its many historical details, you can feel the eventful history of Constance. Thanks to our location in the middle of the historic old town, our hotel is the perfect starting point for city, sightseeing and shopping tours. Everything is within easy walking distance. Whether you are just here for a weekend trip or want to stay with us for longer, we always make sure that you don't miss anything!

Our rooms
Where history meets modernity, many things can happen. The Romantik Hotel Barbarossa offers 48 individually furnished upper middle class rooms, with none of them being the same as the other, but each individual room having its own, unmistakable character. This variety enables us to respond to our guests' wishes in a particularly individual way - regardless of whether they are just passing through, staying in Konstanz for a few days, whether they want to experience a dreamy weekend for two or spend their family holiday on Lake Constance.

Varied and homemade
The living room in the Romantik Hotel Barbarossa is the "Weinstube" - the cozy restaurant decorated with old wall paneling and many historical memorabilia. Here you can enjoy peace and quiet and look out over the lively life on the Obermarkt - just as the previous generations of Miehle innkeepers did, who still look down from the picture frames today. You will also find delicious Lake Constance wines and international wines on our wine list.
Old town terraces
Enjoy sunny hours on our old town terrace, leave a stressful day and the busy streets of the city behind you and gather strength for the next sightseeing tour. Right in the heart of the old town you can look over the roofs of the houses all the way to the cathedral tower. If the weather isn't playing along, you can browse the bookshelves in our small library on the 1st floor and let your imagination run wild while reading a good book and enjoying a cup of coffee.
